Manchester, Vermont Getaway Stay

We had a sneak peek at Spring this past week in Manchester, VT. The sun was shining brightly and the warm weather allowed many of us to get outside. We left our jackets at home or in our cars – and walked the town, enjoying the boutique shops, great cafes, and restaurants among the scenic beauty of Southern Vermont.

With vaccines being administered and travel restrictions beginning to lift, it is time to plan your next Manchester getaway! Need a place to stay?  We have many lodging options to choose from.  Whether it’s historic cozy inns, hideaway cabins, boutique hotels, resorts, or classic motels it’s all here waiting for you to come and experience Manchester, VT.

If you are in search of classic Vermont charm, the Inn at Ormsby Hill will surely impress. The original building was built in 1764 by Thompson Purdy and is one of the oldest structures in Manchester. The building also has a few ties to Hildene, the Lincoln family home, as Purdy was good friends with Robert Todd Lincoln. Head to their directory to learn more.

Southern Vermont has some spectacular views thanks to the vast valleys and majestic mountains. A stay at the Manchester View Motel will place you high in the hills, providing unforgettable views of the Green Mountains as well as the Taconic mountain range.

Seesaw’s Lodge is another unique Vermont experience that provides breathtaking views. Nestled in the Green Mountains, just down the road from Bromley Mountain, Seesaw’s offers suites and full cabin rentals. Many of Seesaw’s buildings have utilized repurposed features from its original structures, keeping its storied past alive today. Cap off your day with dinner and drinks at Johnny Seesaw’s, where you’ll find elevated comfort food incorporating local ingredients with a fresh twist.

If you are looking for something within walking distance to downtown, just two blocks away from Town Center is the Barnstead Inn. This family-run inn with 14 spacious rooms combines modern comfort, Vermont charm, and warm hospitality, all tucked into a New England carriage house built in the 1830s. Looking for even more space and privacy, check out their farmhouse or studio suite.

Just a few blocks in the other direction will bring you to the Hampton Inn and Suites. Its central location and beautiful views have guests returning throughout the year to take advantage of the area’s attractions. After a walk on the town, take advantage of Hampton Inn’s indoor heated pool and fitness center before heading back to your comfortable suite.

The Kimpton Taconic is another great option for those wanting to stay within walking distance of downtown Manchester.  The Taconic combines luxury accommodations, intimate ambiance, gracious service, generous amenities, and local hospitality, in a setting that is both rustic and elegant. Their onsite restaurant, The Copper Grouse, serves authentic local fare, rooted in the traditions of American craft cooking.

Last year, Vermont was the number one producer in Maple Syrup for good reason… the Maple trees are plentiful and the clean Vermont air keeps them trees happy and the sap flowing.
