One of the things we love best about our little town is that we’re within driving distance of both New York City and Boston, but still a world away.
Just hours from departure, billboards disappear, highways dwindle to two-lane roads, and the landscape begins to rise.
Nestled between the Green Mountains to the east and the Taconic Range to the west, Manchester offers spectacular scenery, cultural pursuits, and recreational opportunities unique to each of the four seasons.
Ski nearby, golf in town, fish the world-famous Batten Kill, and revel in the beauty of Vermont’s “best foliage.” Travel tips and route directions below include customizable map links so you can plan your trip!
GETTING TO MANCHESTER
Fly in to major airports like Hartford (BDL) Boston (BOS) and New York (JFK/LGA) or regional hubs: Albany (ALB) and Burlington (BTV). Travelers from Boston can hop an hour long Cape Air flight into Rutland. Once you’re on the ground, rent a car, book a taxi, or take the Vermont Translines straight to downtown Manchester.
Ride Amtrak to Albany/Rensselaer (ALB) and then hop on the Vermont Translines service.
We’re situated along one of ten designated byways that wind throughout the state. If you opt to drive or rent a car, you’ll be best equipped to discover what’s so special about Southern Vermont. Our back roads are key to finding the very best views and memorable touchpoints with local history, culture, and cuisine.
