Have we got a fabulous way to spend a Sunday evening! On October 22, you’re invited to join Manchester Music Festival at Helmholz Fine Art, recently chosen by American Art Awards as one of the 20 best galleries in the USA, to enjoy a unique fusion of art, music, and community at a “Color Theory” concert, featuring Vermont Symphony Orchestra’s Jukebox Quartet, and acclaimed Haitian/Vermont artist, Julio Desmont. Scroll below for more info about Julio.
As the music unfolds, Julio’s brushstrokes will dance across the canvas, creating a new work in real-time. The music promises to be vibrant and evocative, with pieces by Britten, Montgomery, Glass, Meyer, and more – and the entire concert is interactive. At times, quartet members will trade out their bows for brushes, joining Julio at the canvas. Toward the end of the evening, audience members will be invited to leave their own mark on the painting for a truly communal artistic experience. Curated and hosted by Matt LaRocca, VSO Artistic Advisor and Project Conductor. Following the concert, stay for a reception, with light refreshments, savory bites, and a chance to mix-n-mingle.
Doors open at 5:00 pm at Helmholz Fine Art gallery, 442 Depot Street. Concert begins promptly at 5:30 pm. Chairs are provided; seating is limited; tickets can be purchased online at www.mmfvt.org/mmfevents/2023/10/22/vso-jukebox-color-theory or call the MMF office at 802-362-1956. Hope you can join us!
