On Sunday, October 22, the Manchester Music Festival and Lisa Helmholz-Adams invite you to experience a unique fusion of art, music, and community at a “Color Theory” concert, featuring Vermont Symphony Orchestra’s Jukebox Quartet, and acclaimed Haitian/Vermont artist, Julio Desmont. As the music unfolds, Julio’s brushstrokes will dance across the canvas, creating a new work in real-time. The music promises to be vibrant and evocative, with pieces by Britten, Montgomery, Glass, Meyer, and more – and the entire concert is interactive.
At times, each quartet member will trade out their bows for brushes, joining Julio at the canvas. Toward the end of the evening, audience members will be invited to leave their own mark on the painting for a truly communal artistic experience. Curated and hosted by Matt LaRocca, VSO Artistic Advisor and Project Conductor. Following the concert, stay for a reception, with light refreshments, sweet and savory bites, and a chance to mix-n-mingle.
Doors open at 5:00 pm at Helmholz Fine Art Gallery, 442 Depot Street; the concert begins promptly at 5:30 pm. Audience members will be seated during the concert on a first-come-first-seated basis. Tickets are $30 and must be purchased in advance at www.mmfvt.org.
