The Annual Gawlik Awards at Burr and Burton Academy, honoring the achievements of students in the Cinematography program and named in memory of beloved teacher Brian Gawlik, will be held this year on Wednesday, June 2, at 8:00 pm at Riley Rink in Manchester, Vermont. Tickets are $25 and available to the general public at gawliks.burrburton.org.
Named in honor of late BBA teacher and founder of the BBA media program Brian Gawlik, the Gawlik Awards feature nominated student films, live performances from the BBA Performing Arts Department, and guest appearances from nationally recognized artists. This year’s featured guests include comedian Willy Appleman and documentarian Tommy Walker, with musical guests Sounds of A&R and world-renowned horn player Tom “Bones” Malone. Samantha Watson, CEO and Founder of the Samfund and Burr and Burton class of 1996, is the 2021 recipient of the Gawlik Humanitarian Award.
The Gawliks will be held for the first time at Riley Rink, allowing for vastly expanded crowd capacity while maintaining strict adherence to health and safety guidelines. Nominees will walk the red carpet starting at 6:30 pm before the 8:00 pm show.
