Our Valentine’s Day
Suggestions for You!
With cozy cottages, historic mansions, hip hotels, and charming inns, we’ve got the goods to make an unforgettable staycation. Pick your favorite place, pack the wine and cheese, and toss in your favorite flicks. Since you don’t have to spend on airfare, you can splurge on cupid-approved add-ons like a couples massage or a sleigh ride for two!
Wine and Dine
The ultimate treat for any holiday, but especially one where you sit across from your favorite person and stare into their eyes. Our little town offers everything from the reeeeally romantic (Silver Fork, Mistrals, Reluctant Panther) to the classically cool (Copper Grouse, Chop House, Bistro Henry). Heat things up with a side of history at Ye Olde Tavern. Quintessential New England fare amidst the heart-warming glow of oil lamps and fireplaces! For an extra sweet vibe, book a table downstairs at The Perfect Wife for freestyle cuisine and acoustic tunes from troubadour Ian Flanigan.
Surprise Your Sweetheart
It’s easy to be thoughtful with MVT’s selection of beautifully curated shops. Find gorgeous lingerie, New York Times’ endorsed chocolates, one of a kind jewelry, plus gear for the outdoor enthusiast and gear for the cook! Find Valentine’s Day cards at Northshire (sometimes a love note is just enough) along with hundreds of books for all ages. Find pretty gifts to stir the soul at Heart of the Village Yoga’s boutique, across the street from the Equinox. Wooo — buy local, spoil your sweet! Gifts to self, and sis, and gal pals totally count this year.
Flowers and Champagne
The old standby… Lately, we’re loving La Clѐ de la Femme which Glamour calls “easy to drink and easy to like.” Plus, it leaves room in the wallet for strawberries! Where to find it? Comollo’s on Main Street, along with a host of other ridiculously good choices. Shop owners Clarke and Barbara are our local experts. You can tell them what you like, what you want to spend, and they’ll hook you up with something unique and delicious.
For blooms, Wildflower’s Florist rocks. Go with long stem roses or customize your own bouquet. Want to give something that lasts a little bit longer? Equinox Nursery offers a collection of sexy, low-maintenance succulents that’ll brighten any room until the summer comes. Greenhouse winter hours: Sun through Wed from 9 ’til 4.
Woo and Wander
The gorgeous campus at Southern Vermont Art Center is the perfect place to steal a kiss.
The entry gate off West Road is open Monday through Friday during Valentine’s Week.
Hike on up between 9-5 surrounded by views and outdoor art.
