Maple Street School is an independent Pre-K through 8th-grade co-educational day school located in Manchester, Vermont. Our inclusive academic community ignites curiosity, growth, and independence in every student. We nurture intellectual and creative development through an engaging curriculum, fostering a culture of respect and joy that inspires confident learners committed to personal and social responsibility.
Our beautiful 25 acre campus provides an inspiring environment that engenders a dedication to stewardship of the environment. We serve students from 20 local towns, with a total enrollment of 150 students. Our exceptional teachers, 75% of whom hold advanced degrees, believe in nurturing and guiding students to a full awareness of the world and a respect for cultural differences.
Academic Programs
Early Childhood (Pre-K): Our Pre-K program allows children to explore, play, imagine, create, and experience the joys of childhood while developing foundational knowledge and learning to become respectful and caring classmates and friends. Enrollment is capped at 15 children, and the program is located on the beautiful 55-acre campus of Southern Vermont Arts Center.
Lower School (K-3): Provides a nurturing and dynamic environment for our youngest learners, focusing on building a strong foundation in core academic skills such as writing, reading, language development, public speaking, mathematics, social studies, and science. The curriculum emphasizes fostering social interactions and encouraging emotional growth.
Intermediate (Grades 4-5): Continues to build on the foundational skills acquired in the Lower School, introducing more complex concepts, encouraging greater independence in learning and more extracurriculars such as after-school sports programs (Soccer, Basketball & Lacrosse).
Upper School (Grades 6-8): Focuses on strengthening and utilizing core academic skills, with an emphasis on critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration. Students are challenged at their own developmental levels and undertake group projects that require higher-order thinking skills.
