Learn about volunteering for Vermont’s Guardian ad Litem Program in Bennington County. Joe Jiloty, Regional Coordinator for the program in Bennington, Addison and Rutland Counties will host an informational get together on Tuesday, April 9th at 2:00 p.m. to explain the program and the process for applying. Coming to the meeting does not obligate you to apply. Volunteer Guardians ad Litem assist children who have become involved in the juvenile court system. They get to know the child, learn about the circumstances that brought the family into the court system, and provide the parties and the judge with information that will help the judge make an informed decision. There is no specific background required, and the average time commitment is about six to ten hours per month.
Accepted applicants will be provided with four days of training and an opportunity to work with a mentor until ready to take on a case.
Come and find out if the program is a good fit for you.
