Shakespeare’s monologues can be intimidating, intriguing, exciting, illuminating, and overwhelming, but they were written for Players, to be Played in a Playhouse. Do you need a safe, fun place to explore, connect, and grow into a new piece? Do you want to sharpen your skill at auditions? Do you need help choosing pieces that show your best self? Do you just want to play? Join us as we dive deeply and joyfully into finding personal connection in this three-week workshop. Whether you’re new to Shakespeare and want to get your feet wet, or you’re ready for a deeper dive, we can get more comfortable swimming in the deep end. Let’s meet Shakespeare on his own terms—and Play!
Please prepare a 15–20 line monologue from any Shakespeare play or character with which you connect. It doesn’t matter if you would be cast in the role. Memorized is best, but we can work around that.
NOTE: Students must be fully vaccinated (2 weeks after the second dose is administered) before the first class in order to participate. Must be able to provide proof of vaccination.
