Holidays in Manchester

The shops and restaurants around town are ready for you to celebrate the holiday season. Whether you are planning an extravagant meal in your home, renting out space to host a number of guests, or just looking to be wined and dined by one of the many wonderful dining establishments found all around town, Manchester is the place to be! Many of our local restaurants, such as the Copper Grouse at the Taconic, the Dorset Inn, Barrows House, and Ye Olde Tavern, are featuring holiday menus. Don’t want to dine in but want a great meal? Amy’s on the Road and the Equinox Resort and Spa are both offering holiday dinner takeout options. Be sure to make reservations, or order ahead soon because spots are filling up quickly!

This time of year is also great for hosting holiday dinners at home. Luckily, Manchester has many diverse shops where you are certain to find the supplies you need. What better way to impress your guests than with a beautifully intricate lace tablecloth from Miss Phyllis Fine Linens and Frocks? Kitchen missing a few items? No worries Vermont Kitchen Supply has what you need. Everything from top-of-the-line cookware, to serving dishes, to table settings that will surely impress your guests. If you are looking to provide a few amuse-bouches, you can find some unique snacks and appetizers at Above all Vermont which features many local delicacies and treats. Or head down the block to The Italian Market of Manchester to create the ultimate charcuterie board for guests to graze. Al Ducci’s Italian Pantry is another great spot to find delicious treats for the whole family.

Vermont during the holidays is a winter wonderland, but it can become quite chilly – so it’s best to prepare with the appropriate Vermont attire! Stop in to local shops like The Mountain Goat or Eddie Bauer and outfit yourself with the latest winter gear to stay in style and keep warm. Speaking of style, don’t miss locally owned Zippy Chicks, Apricot Lane, or many of the ever-popular Manchester Designer Outlet shops. With our stores and streets decked out in their best holiday dress, come treat yourself to world-class shopping and complete your holiday gift list.

Now that you’ve got some clothes to keep you warm, why not head over to the Northshire Civic Center at Hunter Park? They have a weekly schedule featuring many days of public ice skating, stick ‘n puck, and a few days of pick-up hockey, as well. Prefer to stay warm and cozy? The Manchester Community Library and Northshire Bookstore each have events and readings lined up – while the Southern Vermont Arts Center has exhibits and installations all throughout the holiday and winter season.

Take a stroll through downtown Manchester to experience Snowlight in Vermont featuring beautifully lit trees. Several of them can be seen while walking through the Factory Point Town Green which hosts the town’s 20-foot holiday tree adorned with twinkling white lights. While in the Green check out the Historic Mill Falls and take a quick jaunt along the Manchester River Walk.  Want to stretch your legs a bit more, head up to the Dana Thompson Memorial Park to stroll the Historic Marble Rail Trail. There is nothing more beautiful than taking a walk through the center of the valley with the snow-covered Taconic and Green Moutain ranges in this distance.
