Part civic debate, part personal reckoning, and all live on stage, What the Constitution Means to Me by Heidi Schreck breathes new life into our founding document and imagines how it will shape the next generation of Americans. At fifteen, Schreck earned her college tuition by winning Constitutional debate competitions across the country. In this hilarious, hopeful, and achingly human new play, Heidi (Elisabeth Hazelton) resurrects her teenage self to trace the profound relationship between four generations of women and the Constitution that shaped their lives. The production also features the talents of Finley Allen as the Debater, bringing a fresh, youthful perspective on America’s future, and David McAneny as Mike/Legionnaire, as Heidi’s ally, a grounding force in the whirlwind of history, humor, and personal revelation.
