About Geeta Anand
Geeta began her journalism career in southern Vermont, covering Rutland and nearby communities for The Rutland Herald, where her investigation into credit reporting errors spurred congressional action. She went on to serve as a foreign correspondent for The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times, reporting from India on global health, politics and human rights. As dean of the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism, she mentored the next generation of reporters while advocating for a strong, independent press. She’s also the author of The Cure, the basis for the film Extraordinary Measures starring Harrison Ford.
Now back in Vermont, Geeta is leading VTDigger into its next chapter: strengthening local reporting, expanding access to reliable information and deepening coverage of the issues that shape our communities.
