Taconic Music’s third International Voices: Music and Poetry from Around the World event, celebrating different cultures, languages and diversity, will take place on October 12, 2024 at 2pm in the Manchester Community Library. Immigrants from Europe, South America and Asia, now residing in Southern Vermont will talk briefly about their personal journey to the United States and read a poem in their native tongue, and a translation in English. We will also welcome a special guest: Iranian American composer Kian Ravaei, whose piece Family Photos incorporates elements of Iranian classical music. Taconic String Quartet ­— Joana Genova and Heather Braun, violins; Ariel Rudiakov, viola and Nathaniel Parke, cello ­— will perform music from each country.
