Southern Vermont Musikgarten: Family Music for Babies and Toddlers (Ages Newborn-4)
This class offers caregivers the opportunity to play with their babies and small children in a musical setting, experiencing music and movement activities designed to delight the child and spark their curiosity about music. By singing, dancing, bouncing, rocking, and playing instruments, the child’s musical aptitude is being carefully nurtured, laying the foundation for beat awareness, vocal production, and aural discrimination. All children are born with an aptitude for music, but research shows that their aptitude diminishes if it is not nurtured. The best way to promote a child’s music aptitude is through active music making. By singing and dancing for and with our children in a variety of tonalities, meters, and styles, we are helping our children reach their full music potential.

Summer Session Curriculum: Animal Friends
This book and music will capture your little one’s attention with photos of children their own age and colorful illustrations that bring the songs and rhymes to life. Everyone in the family will love the variety of music. Classics like The Farmer in the Dell and Old MacDonald, plus new favorites like The Wild Horses and Macaroni, will excite your imagination. You’ll hear fast-tempo music as well as calming, slower, relaxing music.

Participants may purchase the book, but the Library will also have copies available in our catalogue.
Participants are encouraged to attend all ten class sessions, as each builds upon the previous one.
