EO Wilson uses the term “Biophilia” when he describes “The connections that human beings subconsciously seek with the rest of life.” He proposed the idea that the deep affections humans have with nature are rooted in human biology.

I feel this 100%, but my biophilia is more conscious and compulsive. My work is connected to the land – through observation, appreciation, and harvest. The way I respond to my environment is a collaboration. As part of this place, my wanderings and imaginings compel me to create my synthesized visions.

Many of the works included in this show utilize found objects or found imagery that I repossess for my own place making. The appropriated structures find a new narrative when I reinhabit them.

I tend to make work in series. It gives me the opportunity to explore variations and multi- faceted aspects that one piece alone would not cover. Phrases, memes, folk tales, and history weave through my pieces.
