Northshire Grown Direct, the community-supported agricultural project that launched in
April as a way to help area farmers and producers connect their goods with consumers, is
relocating its curb-side pick-up site from J.K. Adams in Dorset to the Dorset Playhouse
beginning Wednesday, June 10th.
The move to the new location is due to re-opening of the J.K. Adams’ retail store, which
temporarily closed because of COVID-19 restrictions on business. Ongoing Covid-19
restrictions on theatres, and size limits on gatherings, have rendered the Dorset Playhouse
site available for this special service provided by Northshire Grown, which is a project of
Merck Forest & Farmland Center.
Customer pre-orders will be available for pick-up between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. at the front of
Playhouse. Distribution is slated for Wednesdays, with June 10, 24 and July 8 currently
scheduled.
Northshire Grown Direct is a collaboration of more than 25 local farms and food producers
whose normal distribution of products to local restaurants and institutions was also
interrupted by the pandemic. The project currently serves some 150 customers through
curbside pick-up on each distribution date. An additional 50 area families are served
through the Northshire Neighbors in Need initiative, which is funded directly through the
CSA’s customer base.
