Taconic Music features guest soprano at its New Year’s Celebration concert
Taconic Music’s eighth annual New Year’s Celebration concert will take place at The Inn at Manchester’s Events Barn on Sunday, December 31 at 5:30pm, with a cash bar beginning at 5 pm, and attendees are encouraged to dress up for the night and come a little earlier for a festive drink and lively music to kick off their New Year’s Eve festivities.
The concert features a nine-piece string band plus drummer Michael Rudiakov, led by Taconic’s Artistic Directors Joana Genova and Ariel Rudiakov. The band is composed of accomplished musicians from as far as Boston, Pittsburgh, and Cleveland and as near as Albany, Wallingford, and Manchester. The hour-long program will feature light classical and Baroque favorites, tangos, and jazzy tunes, and end with a Viennese waltz and the traditional Radetzky March.
A special guest this year is soprano Evangelia Leontis who will sing the hauntingly beautiful Bachiana Brasileira No.5 by Heitor Villa-Lobos, If I Were a Bell from “Guys and Dolls” and What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve, especially arranged by the Northshire’s own Neil Freebern.
General admission is $40. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit taconicmusic.org.
