The wild edible mushroom season is in full swing. Ian Vair, local mushroom expert and chef, will be leading the workshop. Boletus, Black Trumpets, Puffballs and Hedgehog mushrooms will all be on the list of potential finds. “August is my favorite month in Vermont due to the vast quantity of edible mushrooms in the forest. As always, Ian begins his workshops with a lecture discussing tact and informative skills. Safety, understanding field guides, types of fungus and the entire identification process will all be covered. Join the fun and engage your senses with an afternoon of learning, excitement and adventure!
Please wear comfortable shoes for hiking the woods and sloping terrain. Bring a water bottle, insect repellent, and a bag for collecting your finds. Space is limited; pre-registration is required.

Ian Vair is a chef and owner of Chaga Moon, a web-based business selling products made from the chaga mushroom. He and his wife also sell their products at local farmers markets. His interest in mushrooms and the study of mycology began over ten years ago and has since grown from hobby to thriving business.
