During the covid lockdown and in the following year, Vermont state poet Laureate Mary Ruefle anonymously mailed over a thousand poems to Vermonters she randomly chose from the state’s phone books. The poems came from all cultures and all times, none were her own, and she licked every envelope herself. The project was supported by The Academy of American Poets and endorsed by the Vermont State Arts Council. She will be reading some of the poems and be talking about the project on Saturday April 8th at 2pm
