Saturday, August 21: Last Mile’s ~80-Mile Motorcycle Ride: Registration starts at 8:30 AM at Gifford Park in Randolph, and motorcycle riders will depart for a loop through Central Vermont at 10 am. This ride is part of Last Mile’s two-day event to raise funds to provide palliative care services to patients staying at Gifford Medical Center. Some also benefit from end-of-life care in Gifford’s two Garden Rooms, special hospital suites with a peaceful atmosphere, garden access, and additional space for loved ones. In fact, any of our patients facing “life’s last mile” can benefit from these services, not just those in the hospital. Our grants can help to reinforce the work of the VNA and Hospice by bringing the “Garden Room experience” to patients who choose to remain at home. As we celebrate our 16th annual event, we want to make those special services available to more people in our community. The Last Mile means more than just caring for patients at the end-of-life, it means celebrating their lives and the stories they have shared with those they love most.
