Green Mountain Academy welcomes Rabbi Michael Cohen to talk about the status of the conflict between Israelis and Palestinians. This spring marks the 100th anniversary of the San Remo Conference where many of the victorious allies of World War I met to discuss the future of the defeated Ottoman Empire. As part of the dividing up of the Ottoman Empire, the British Mandate was established in Palestine including to put, “into effect the declaration made on the 8th November 1917 by the British government and adopted by the other Allied Powers, in favour of the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people.” That same spring the 3rd Palestine Arab Congress was held where the local Arab representatives strongly voiced their opposition to the establishment of that idea. 100 years later, where are we with this conflict?
