This powerful film examines parts of our broken food system through the stories of six “heroes” (farmers, ranchers, fisherman, activist, restaurateurs) who reshaped their businesses over the course of the pandemic and came out stronger. At the center of the movie is Ruth Reichl, legendary editor-in-chief of Gourmet magazine, prolific author, and recipient of the prestigious James Beard Lifetime Achievement award in June 2024. Worried about the survival of small farmers, ranchers, and chefs hobbled by America’s policy of producing cheap food, Ruth reaches across political and social divides to report on the country’s broken food system and the innovators risking everything to transform it. Appropriate for all ages, this film engenders hope with it’s “hold fast to your values, and take risks to achieve your dream” message.
