Green Mountain Academy for Lifelong Learning (GMALL) welcomes Dr. Galen Jackson, Assistant Professor of Political Science at Williams College, to talk about the cyber revolution. Many analysts argue that the advent of digital technologies—and their weaponization—have fundamentally transformed international politics. Indeed, some experts have gone so far as to compare the impact of cyberweapons to the effects of the nuclear revolution. This talk will examine whether such claims are valid or, alternatively, whether the so-called ‘cyber revolution’ is overblown. To try to answer that question, it will focus on some of the most significant cyber operations to date, such as the Stuxnet worm and Russia’s 2017 NotPetya attack on Ukraine.
