Just in time for Earth Day! Come watch the compelling and uplifting film Microplastic Madness
Eve O. Schaub, author of Year of No Garbage (Skyhorse, 2023) will be on hand for a Q and A to follow the film. Schaub’s memoir about living for a year without throwing anything away has been featured in The New Yorker, the Weather Channel, NPR and the Washington Post.
“When I began my journey into Zero-Waste for my book Year of No Garbage, I never knew that it would transform me into an activist,” says Schaub, who lectures widely on this topic and is a member of Beyond Plastics, a non-profit working to end plastic pollution.
“There is so much misinformation and greenwashing around the topic of plastic and recycling,” Schaub says. “This fascinating film gives us the real facts, in the form of an entertaining and inspiring narrative about young kids who set out to change the world.”
Microplastic Madness is the story of 56 New York City fifth graders whose actions on plastic pollution morph into extraordinary leadership and the passage of actual anti-plastic waste legislation. Through heartfelt kid commentary, stop-motion animation, and interviews with experts and scientists this captivating narrative conveys an urgent message about the harms of single-use plastic and what we can all do about it.
