Inspired by American author Munro Leaf’s best-loved book, The Story of Ferdinand (1936), British composer Alan Ridout penned his musical adaptation for violin and reader in 1971. Violinist Philip Setzer will perform Ridout’s appealing score, with actor Linda Setzer narrating the tale of the peace-loving bull who delighted in a sunny, fragrant meadow (July 19).
