Mark your calendars! Wagon rides will be offered on Saturdays, September 28th, October 5th, and October 12th, from 10:30 AM to 2:30 PM. Climb aboard the big, red tractor-drawn wagon for a leisurely tour of the expansive lower portion of the property known as the dene. More than just a scenic tour, the wagon ride offers a glimpse into Hildene’s commitment to sustainability. Learn about the estate’s diverse ecosystems and the innovative farming practices that nourish the land. Hop on and off at designated stops to explore highlights like:

• Greenhouse: Learn about Hildene’s horticultural practices, and especially the Abenaki Land-Link Project
• Orchard: Savor the beauty of the fruit trees
• Floating Boardwalk: Take in the rich diversity of the wetland ecosystem from a unique vantage point.
• Apiary: Observe fascinating honeybees at work.
• Gardens: See what treasures remain in the gardens in fall for animals and foragers alike.
• Animal Barn: Meet Hildene’s resident alpacas, including the adorable, one-year-old Jack, the son of the first alpaca born at Hildene. You’ll also see endangered Randall cattle, pigs, sheep, rabbits, and chickens—all of them enjoying pumpkins and sunflowers grown for them at Hildene!

Wagon rides are free, included with your Hildene admission. Don’t miss out on this unique opportunity to experience fall foliage at its finest! All parking is on the upper level. Acquire admission stickers in Hildene’s Welcome Center and either walk to the dene or take the van or tram.
