The world of seed saving can be complex and intimidating, leading a person to think that there is too much to learn and not enough time to do it. But this is not necessarily the case. As with everything, the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.
Join seed enthusiasts Scout Proft, Ann Hausslein, and Maria Reade at The Manchester Community Library as they help demystify seeds and lead an introductory workshop on seed saving. Discover the difference between heirloom, hybrid, open pollinated, F1, and heritage seeds. Learn about what seed saving actually is and what steps to take now for seed saving this fall. Enjoy a variety of displays created by local farm and garden experts. Sample some delicious delights. And meet the Manchester Community Library’s new Seed Sharing Library that will be open to the public for the first time this season.
It is the mission of the Manchester Community Library to be open to all as an inspiring gathering place for the community, providing opportunities and resources for personal enrichment and growth. For current hours and programs, please visit mclvt.org or call (802) 362-2607.
