CANCELLED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE – Armchair Travel Series: Poland

March 15, 2020 @ 4:00pm-5:30pm

Free

On Sunday, March 15 at 4 p.m. at Equinox Village, Cindy Waters, adult programming coordinator at Manchester Community Library, along with Curt Merrow, will share photos and memories of their recent trip to Poland, a country full of picturesque cities and countryside, rich in history and home to many UNESCO World Heritage Sites. They’ll introduce you to the charming mountain town of Zakopane, with its distinctive architecture; historic Krakow, largely unscathed by WW II; and Gdansk, a port city on the Baltic coast and popular destination for Scandinavians. Cindy and Curt and other family members scaled the depths of a remarkable salt mine, visited museums and historic sites dedicated to WW II, the Holocaust, and the inspiring story of Solidarity, the independent trade union that began the fall of the Soviet bloc, and experienced the excitement of a Polish soccer game. Poland has come a long way since the oppressive days of Soviet rule. See why you don’t have to be Polish to put it on your travel list.

The event is free and open to the public, reception to follow. This event is sponsored by Equinox Village and presented by Manchester Community Library. Equinox Village is located at 49 Maple St. in Manchester Center.
