“And the Oscar winner is…” at the Dorset Library for the month of February!

The Dorset Village Library is pleased to announce an exhibition of the Vermont artist Robert Birbeck’s hand drawn pencil portraits. Birbeck is a painter and sculptor residing in Wells, winning numerous awards for his oil paintings and ceramic sculptures. In recognition of the Academy Awards ceremony taking place in February, Birbeck has created drawings based on the legendary actors and actresses from the past honored with an Academy Award for their screen performances. From Marlon Brando to Audrey Hepburn, Clark Gable and Dame Maggie Smith, the Award winners’ portraits will be accompanied by movies from the Library’s collection showcasing some of the unforgettable screen roles of these movie stars.

The public is invited to meet the artist and view his artwork (which is not for sale) at the Opening Reception on Saturday, February 1st from 11am-1pm. Refreshments will be served and you are welcome to check out books and DVD’s during that time as well. We also have knitted items available, all are hand crafted by members of the Dorset Knitters. Soft wool hats, cowls, sweaters, and scarves make beautiful gifts and are lovely to wear. Winter is not over yet!
