The Wilburton Destination Resort
A FAMILY RUN MAGICAL INN
We are thrilled to welcome you to The Wilburton, a majestic 30-acre destination resort in Manchester Village, Vermont. With romantic suites, spacious vacation homes and two turn-of-the-century mansions, The Wilburton is a private hilltop estate that specializes in lodging and celebrations for groups of all sizes. Family reunions, destination weddings, corporate retreats and milestone birthdays vacations have been our specialty for over 33 years!
The resort is a breathtaking campus with rolling lawns, tall shady trees, spectacular sculpture gardens and the best views in Vermont. The hilltop accommodates up to 100 lodging guests. The new marble pavilion tent hosts catered celebrations for up to 200 guests.
The Wilburton mansion was built in 1902 as the largest private estate in Manchester. Now groups can experience the luxury of renting the entire 11-bedroom mansion as an exclusive ‘mansion in the mountains.’ Enjoy the grand entertaining spaces and lodging as your private home. Feel like “Top Chef” cooking the commercial kitchen, or let our chef or organic family farm cater while you relax.
Resort amenities include an outdoor pool*, tennis court, croquet, giant chess, volleyball, hammocks, and the magnificent onsite sculpture exhibits of The Museum of the Creative Process. Four hours from New York City and 3.5 from Boston, The Wilburton’s maple lined driveway transports you to a world away. Life is magical and beautiful at The Wilburton. And we are so dog friendly, our Canine Concierge Jetson was on Animal Planet’s Puppy Bowl this year!
*Pool times are scheduled so each vacation house has an hour of private time at the pool, each day. There are also open swim times for all guests from 7-10 am and 1-2pm. Maxwell Suite and Innkeepers Cottage guests share one hour. Wilburton mansion guests get 2 hours. Battenkill Valley Mansion guests can use the pool, subject to availability and have their own private pond.
Vermont has reopened. (Click here for VT vacation travel updates.) We provide keyless check in and deep cleaning between guests. We are not currently offering breakfast or daily housekeeping, but most rooms have refrigerators, coffee machines and outdoor seating. Manchester’s shops and restaurants are only 2 miles away.

As we sing in The Wilburton theme song, “We didn’t buy it to run it like a Hyatt.” 33 years ago, our family bought The Wilburton to share our love of Vermont and hospitality with you. We look forward to welcoming you to Vermont!

The Wilburton is more than pet-friendly - we are pet celebrating! Our four-legged innkeeper Jetson loves welcoming all breeds to the Wilburton. Every Halloween weekend we host "Howl'oween Slumber Parties" with Canine Costume Balls and prizes for best-dressed pooch and no pet fees. Cavalier King Charles always stay free.
Yes it is! innkeeper and psychiatrist Dr. Albert Levis has created the Museum of the Creative Process on the grounds of the Wilburton Inn. The Easter Island head represents the sad wizard and father of all religions who despite their best intentions have not led the world to peace. Dr. Levis invites guests to walk the sculptural trail of 'How the World Got Wiser: the Secrets to Living Happily Ever After' and discover how religions have evolved alongside the struggle of the genders. Dr. Levis believes that with the help of Moral Science we can find harmony in the world and our hearts at last.
In a funny way - yes! I always loved The Sound of Music, but never imagined I'd grow up to be a singing Vermont innkeeper like the original Maria von Trapp! After 20 years as a musical theatre writer and children's rock star in New York City I am delighted to join my siblings and father and return to my childhood home of Manchester, Vt. Instead of writing songs for prime ministers, Off-Broadway and 5 year old fans, now I write songs for our guests.
We are very lucky to have a wonderful baker in our family! Oliver Levis and his wife Bonnie turned our childhood home in manchester into a vibrant organic farm and bakery. His wood fired oven comes from Barcelona and they bake 2000 loaves of bread and 750 veggie burgers every week! Flavors include Super Fruity, Stevie Wonder Bread and their new Bernie Sandwich pumpernickel in honor of our VT presidential hopeful! Watch the bread being made!
Guests are always surprised to see a Sisters Rosensweig poster in the living room of the Wilburton inn, but our mom Georgette was the inspiration for Madeleine Kahn's Tony Award-winning character, Gorgeous. Mom was featured with Wendy and her big sister Sandra in the book "Sisters." We love hearing from guests how much Wendy's plays meant to them.
