Green Mountain Academy for Lifelong Learning (GMALL) welcomes arts educator Stacy Gates to lead this workshop. Alcohol Inks have a mind of their own and they are crazy fun! In this workshop we will learn to tame the ink and will focus on creating flowers on tiles. Various tools will be used to place the ink on the tile, including brushes, toothpicks, cotton pads and Qtips. We will also move the ink by blowing air through a straw and using canned air to create dramatic floral designs. Each participant will complete two tiles in class. The fee is $35 for the workshop and includes all materials. For more information or to register, please call 802-867-0111 or visit our website at www.greenmtnacademy.org.
Take an immersive journey through the life, works and struggles of the Italian master Michelangelo Merisi di Caravaggio. Green Mountain Academy for Lifelong Learning (GMALL) is excited to offer the screening of “Caravaggio: The Soul and the Blood”, which will take place at Burr and Burton Academy’s Riley Center for the Arts on Saturday, April 6 at 4:00 p.m. Roberto Longhi, a Caravaggio expert, explores in the artist’s masterpieces the echo of personal experiences and the expression of the human state, both physical and emotional. These evocative moments – thanks to the use of light and cinematic techniques – allow viewers to go deep inside the mind and soul of Caravaggio, empathizing with his impulses and fears. Tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for seniors and $8 for students, and may be purchased online at bbatickets.com. “Caravaggio: The Soul and the Blood” is produced by Sky Italia and Magnitudo.
Join us on Saturday, April 6th at 6:00 p.m. as Erica Boyce reads and discusses her book The Fifteen Wonders of Daniel Green. "A beautifully rendered story about the interwoven relationships and complicated dynamics between family, friends, and the strangers who enter their lives. Boyce deftly explores the facets of humanity and creates honest characters who teach us that the difficulties that life presents and a man's dying wish provide an opportunity for growth, resolution of past differences, grace, and ultimately, love." - Susie Orman Schnall, award-winning author of The Subway Girls For fans of Phaedra Patrick and Fredrik Backman, this astonishing debut explores the healing power of forgiveness, the sometimes unconventional definition of family, and the realization that home is not defined by the walls you build, but by the people you choose to build them with. Erica Boyce is a graduate of Dartmouth College and Harvard University. She lives outside of Boston with her husband and a corgi named Finn. This is her debut novel.
