Weston Playhouse Theatre Company
Weston Playhouse, Vermont’s oldest professional theatre, has a spectacular line-up in store for the 2017 season. From classic musicals to hilarious plays to Vermont premieres and an American icon, there’s something for everyone! Children of all ages will love the season-opening musical romp Really Rosie by Maurice Sendak (The Nutshell Library, Where the Wild Things Are) and Carole King while we’re all anxious for their final show — the first production in their new studio theatre! Rich educational opportunities round out the season with Broadway Theatre Camp for teens, TheatreLab, and student matinees. And there’s no better way to cap a night of spectacular entertainment with Weston’s ever-popular Cabaret.
"We've been visiting the Weston Playhouse for 25 years and it just keeps getting better. The productions are top quality, the talent amazing, the staff and community welcoming, and the environment not to be missed. We always enjoy planning a picnic on the green before the shows. Surprisingly few people do this but it's a wonderful way to start the evening if you don't want to go out to dinner. Why go to a big city when you can get top quality theater in a beautiful village in Vermont!"(source)
Come for a show. Stay for the Cabaret. Join Weston company members in an unforgettable hour of music and mayhem following all evening performances of the first three MainStage productions. The Cabaret was named Yankee Magazine’s 2014 Editors Choice “Best Place for a Nightcap.” Don’t miss out on the fun. Make your reservations with the box office today!
Weston Playhouse Theatre Company believes in making a significant commitment to the development of new work. Each year Weston hosts Artist Retreats, presents a New Musical Award, and positions groundbreaking and innovative works on its OtherStages. Look for regional and world premieres, and for critically-acclaimed contemporary plays to fill out the intimate second stage roster.
After ten years of hard work by the staff and community, Weston Playhouse will be opening its new studio theatre and center for the arts and community. Opening in the fall of 2017, this new space will be a home for playwrights, directors, composers, and librettists to come and work on new projects in a quiet, rural environment away from the distractions of the city. It will also be available for public and community uses such as weddings, receptions, meetings, and lectures.
