Mount Equinox Skyline Drive
At 3,848 feet above sea level, the summit of Mount Equinox offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Green, White, Adirondack, Berkshire, and Taconic mountain ranges. You can hike up along the Equinox Preserve’s trail system or you can cruise up Skyline Drive, a privately-owned toll road just south of Manchester proper.
The five-mile trek winds and twists its way up nearly 3,300 feet, past panoramic views of lakes, rivers, and valley communities. At the summit, there’s a beautiful Visitors Center, trail access, and 360-degree perspective. Several paved parking areas along the route provide spectacular spots to snap an amazing photo or (handy!) to cool your brakes on the way back down. Low gear, low speed highly recommended!
If you go, check in at the Toll House; $15 per car and driver, $5 per passenger, kids under 10 free.
Open Seasonally May through October
"Skyline toll road to the summit did not disappoint! Sweeping views await your arrival ... great photo op ... We counted ourselves lucky that there were only a few other cars in the parking lot when we visited, hurray!"Amy C, Connecticut
